For a Linux user, you can already build such a system yourself quite trivially by getting an FTP account, mounting it locally with curlftpfs, and then using SVN or CVS on the mounted filesystem. From Windows or Mac, this FTP account could be accessed through built-in software.

Sir, this is a Docker, not Dropbox

I'm replacing Dropbox with Unison [0] over ssh, BTW. It's a great piece of software (multiplatform, and it even has a GUI).

[0] https://github.com/bcpierce00/unison

It's not the 90s anymore.

It that comment says is “I don’t know what docker solves”

I mean, isn't that just about what happened to Docker?

They wrote a really nice wrapper around cgroups/ns/tarball hosting and then struggled to monetize it because a large portion of their users are exactly the kind of people who could set up a curlftpfs document cloud.

Not sure what's gonna happen to them of course, but C1 doesn't really layoff the entire team like that. They have a few acquisitions that merge in but often stay as their own business unit and have a fair amount of autonomy.

Selling as is helps a bit but it only covers regret returns. If the item is not as listed such as claiming to be new but the packing is opened, you're still obligated to accept a return

I feel like a mobile abode is the way to go. You'll eventually be found and there's no way to outlast a group forever. They'll find a way to cut your air or water. Get a land cruiser with a good tent and go fuck off in the middle of nowhere.

Funny the person you replied to mentioned an antique rifle and then you ranted about assault weapons while censoring yourself?

Rifles are great for many things aside from roving bandits. First thing is that hunting is an excellent capability to have and rifles are much easier to use than bows. Another thing is the deterrence one provides. If you're moving around the end times with just your fists, you're an easier target than someone equipped. The final bit is if your point is right and living in a fortified structure is the way to go, someone with a rifle and the knowhow to use it is going to be immensely more useful to the group than someone who just knows how to use a computer. In the absence of law, you will be obliged to defend yourself whether that's individually or in a large group.

That also includes knowing how to process game. A dead deer or a dead rabbit has a small window between being a dead creature and a toxic mess. If you're gonna plug animals learn how to make proper use of them.

What's broken about it?

I'm a luddite so forgive me when I ask this. How does the grid "waste" electricity to avoid overfilling?

Can you adjust the angle for different knives? I have one of these in my cart.

yes, you can adjust angles between 15 and 30 degrees.

One of those reoriented vertical Logitech mice that reduce wrist pain. Amazing!

Similarly, and also right at $99.99: Evoluent VerticalMouse https://evoshop.biz/evoluent-verticalmouse-medium-p-72.html

Wow. A single picture of the product. And a name. And a price. That website went all-out on their minimalist design principles.

I use a Logitech MX Ergo that has a trackball, and it's helped me a lot with wrist pain. Using a trackball felt a bit weird initially.

I got "fashion shamed" by another geek for using a trackball "like it's still the 90s".

I don't put much stock in anything they've ever said, since.

And yet was the most common thing in the 90's.

Rivalism at its best. Removing the track balls before the next class got in to the computer room. That then escalated to fork bombing.

The IT techs got pissed that they glued shut the plastic release twist hatch.

Did you have first republic? RIP. I miss that bank so much.

Yup, that was one of them. Chase botched transferring the bill pay over after spending 3 months saying they’d transfer bill pay and then told me over the phone they hadn’t said that while I was looking at the current page on their website that said they’d transfer bill pay.

First Republic was great - they were the reason I didn’t go to a credit union sooner. Schwab also has amazing customer service, if you’re still searching for a new home and aren’t willing to make the leap to a CU.
